Love Cambridge welcomes its newest member to the collective – Angels Lingerie & Baby Boutique!
Angels offers Cambridge customers – and those popping through town - the chance to purchase special items from hand-selected brands. Their boutique products include an array of lingerie, hosiery, sleepwear, kids’ clothes, baby toys and merino products – none of which you would find in chain stores.
Under the ownership of local lass Stacey Bax, she has had the store for two years come September. `
And it’s the people that’s the pull.
“I couldn’t be in a role not with people,” she said. “They’re my favourite part – helping them find the right gift, something they want or need, or just talking as they have a look around the store.
“People contact – that’s my ‘why’.”
Having moved to Cambridge in 1996 as a New Zealand rowing rep, Stacey was soon immersed in sport and study and work and life. She met Cambridge born-and-bred Justin (you may know him as the lad from Noel Leemings!), and the two went on to marry and have two daughters – Caitlin (almost 12) and Olivia (aged eight).
Working as a case manager at Work & Income on Duke Street for 15 years, the time came when Stacey decided she’d quite like to be her own boss. She worked in another local retail store as she figured her way forward – which is when she saw Angels was up for sale.
“Four doors down from Work & Income, it was a place I was familiar with!” she said.
The first year was a huge learning curve, with an immense amount to take on in regards to shop, stock and running a business.
“I’d never done it before so I really sunk my teeth into learning,” she said. “And now into year two I have the basics under my belt, so it’s about fine tuning and perfecting it all.”
And here’s to many more years to come with Stacey at the helm. What an Angel.
