Cambridge is a haven for nature enthusiasts and active individuals, offering an array of parks and recreational areas that cater to all ages and interests. From lush green spaces to superb sports facilities, there's something for everyone to enjoy. So, lace up your walking shoes, grab your bike, and let's dive into the parks and recreational treasures awaiting you in Cambridge.

Dog parks

Embrace the great outdoors with your furry companions at one of the many dog-friendly parks scattered throughout Cambridge. Let your four-legged friends frolic, socialise and bask in the joy of off-leash adventures at Lamb Street, Shelley Street, Wordsworth Street, Gil Lumb Park, Alpha Street, Swayne Road, Blackie Reserve, and designated areas at Lake Te Koo Utu.

Your pup must always be on a lead when on Council parks and reserves, unless the areas are designated otherwise. Some parks have areas specifically set aside for dog exercise, while others prohibit dogs completely. Waipā District Council frequently updates its off-leash exercising areas, so check out their website for more information.

Skate parks, mountain biking and pump tracks

If you’re a skateboarding or BMX enthusiast, we have an amazing skate park and pump track located by the Perry Aquatic Centre on Dominion Ave where you can perfect your tricks and flips. You can also head to the Leamington Domain skate park to showcase your skills and join the local skateboarding community. The Cambridge BMX Club is further up the road on Lamb Street, while mountain biking enthusiasts should check out the Te Miro Mountain Bike Park.

Walkways

Throw on your sneakers and explore the picturesque walkways that wind through Cambridge. Take a leisurely stroll along the Waikato River Trail or Te Awa River Ride, where you can soak up the breathtaking beauty of the river. St Kilda Waterways is another great place to explore while getting your steps up.

Playgrounds

Cambridge offers a myriad of playgrounds that will delight children and bring out the inner child in adults. Let your little ones unleash their energy at destinations such as the Leamington Domain, Thornton Road, St Kilda, or Shelley Street/Thompson Street, where they can climb, swing, and slide to their heart's content.
